I have a tendency to become quite enamored with the most well-known and well-known brands (and some of the lesser known ones) in our society. Their products, ideas, and even marketing strategies are everywhere. Yet I find myself becoming increasingly disillusioned with their effectiveness as an advertising medium.
My frustration with a good marketing strategy is not that it doesn’t work, just that it’s not working as well as I would like. A good marketing strategy is one that makes the product more memorable, more exciting, and more worthwhile than it would be otherwise. So instead of just thinking about marketing, I’d rather focus on creating my marketing strategy. The key is to get the right product/service into the right hands.

If you are in a professional networking space, try to find people in the group that you know, and ask them to review your portfolio. That will let you know if they are good at asking questions, and if you have the skill set to be a good mentor.
The other important thing is to find people who are interested in your skills, because you will be better able to judge how helpful they are to you. Ask questions, and then try to make them get to the bottom of the answers you are asking. Keep in mind that most people who are in networking groups are just looking for someone to talk to, so don’t just ask people what they think. Ask them to tell you why they think they are so great.
