I had the pleasure of attending the Columbia Master in Marketing and Communication event last week, held by the Columbia University College of Business. It was a tremendous event with outstanding speakers, great food, and lots of networking.
For the second year in a row, Columbia University is hosting a Master in Marketing and Communication conference. This year was the second year that they’ve had a number of outstanding speakers, including myself, in addition to the great speakers.
I have to admit that I had a lot of misgivings about the event. I felt like I was in a room full of corporate executives, or even a room full of marketers, so I didn’t really know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I was very pleasantly surprised that Columbia University has a Marketing and Communication department, and that they were doing such a great job at it.
Columbia is well-known for its marketing, as well as its journalism, law, and business programs, and marketing is a key part of their programs because it is an effective way to market and sell. So the event was held in a pretty big auditorium, it had a lot of speakers, and it was an impressive spread of the programs.
If you want to get into the marketing department of Columbia, I highly recommend going to the “Marketing” course. It is offered through the Business School, so you will need to have a business degree. The course is not only taught by Columbia’s Marketing and Communication department, but also by Columbia’s Journalism and Mass Communications department, and even by Business Administration. I think it is well worth the money for anyone interested in marketing and business.
The marketing courses in Columbia are designed to teach a variety of skills, from writing to public relations. The courses provide a solid foundation for those interested in marketing and marketing management. My personal favorite class is Marketing and Public Relations, which is taught by students from a journalism and mass communication degree program.
Columbia University is one of the top five business schools in the United States, and it’s a good school to attend if you’re interested in marketing. Although the school isn’t really designed for marketing people, it does a good job of teaching you how to think like a marketer.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it should get you started. There are more than a few other courses that cover the same ground, but I will just cover the five classes that really grabbed me.
They are, 1. Marketing for the Web, 2. Marketing for Small Businesses, 3. Marketing for Large Businesses, 4. Marketing for Individual Investors, 5. Marketing for Business Owners.
Marketing is the same thing as public relations. People don’t have to be hired to be marketers. They just have to listen to what the marketers have to say about them. Marketing for the Web is a great place to start if you have a couple of years of online marketing experience and want to learn how to be a good marketer. It’s a solid course to get you started and not to be skipped over.
