What you do in life is what you do for your clients. You sell them what they want and what you think they need. You sell them on your company’s expertise and professionalism, but you also make sure that they feel like they can ask for anything they want.

I think that is one reason that salespeople are often hired as consultants. They can get a job that pays well, and they can do a lot of things that consultants can’t. They can go to conferences and talk to investors and analysts behind closed doors without any questions being asked.

The fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.

Yes, that is true, but that doesn’t mean we should expect any particular brand of consultant to be able to do the job we hired them for.

We hired a company to help us build the game, and we hired a company to help us build the game to sell it. If we want to get people in the door with our game, we need to talk to them about it, not some random person who has no real expertise in the industry.
