If you’ve ever read any marketing materials, you’ve likely seen the phrase “entry level marketing resumes” used at least once. These are resumes that are designed to get you noticed, get you a job, and make you a successful person who can build a career around you. A lot of times, these resumes will ask for your experience in a particular area, but they won’t tell you what it is or what you did to get it.
Thats why it’s so important because if you don’t know what you do, how do you know you can make a career from it? Just because you have the skillset to do it, doesn’t mean you should be able to. You should know what you’re about and be able to point to a list of examples of what you have done. Don’t get me wrong, I love that this article is full of examples.
This is a good point. We should never assume that anyone who has taken an entry-level job can do it for the rest of their life. Many new graduates are so discouraged that they end up quitting their jobs because they have no idea what they’re doing. If you dont have a list of your skillset, how will you know you can make a career from it? It’s simple logic.
I know many people who would be completely shocked if I told them they could make a career from entering-level marketing. I know I would be like, “Why are you so surprised?” They would be shocked because they’d be so surprised. It’s not that hard, really. It’s just that you don’t have to be an expert to make a living from marketing.
The truth is that most people who enter marketing jobs are so unsure of what they are capable of that they end up having to take a job at a low-level. Its not necessarily the case that marketing is inherently a low-paying job, but its not all that hard to be a low-level employee. Just go to any college and ask them if they know someone who has graduated from a school with a marketing certificate.
For a while, at least, this job was a pretty safe one. Most of the people who started marketing companies had never done a marketing job before either because they had never had to worry about it or because they had no clue what it is. Today, though, the job has become more of a business and more uncertain. Marketing companies are no longer solely about making money. They’re now becoming more about making sales and then making people happy.
It’s a pretty neat job that’s usually not so dangerous, but it’s certainly a business that requires a great deal of experience and knowledge of the business and psychology to succeed. For an aspiring marketer, those are probably the two things that can help you.
For marketers, its a great job. For us marketers, we’re just starting out, so at first we’re excited that we’re going to be making money. But our first couple of months marketing to the real world have been pretty rough. We’ve been trying to get a lot of press, but it’s been difficult because we’re having trouble getting people to buy into what we’re trying to do.

#1: Always make sure you have a marketing plan. You should have a marketing plan that outlines the marketing and sales objectives, your media plan, and who you are going to be working with. Every company and every person should have a strategy in place for marketing and sales.
