I’m not sure if it’s because I spend so much time on social media (yes, I am a social media addict), but I’m finding that I’m more aware of marketing positions as I get older. It’s not that I’m more aware of marketing jobs, I just get more comfortable with the term as I gain more experience. I know there are marketing jobs out there that are available.
Marketing jobs exist out there. I just don’t want to hire a marketing intern if I can help it. You know what? I think it’s important to have a little respect for the position. There are plenty of people who are hiring for marketing positions right now.

I worked with one of the largest marketing agencies in the country and was a part of their marketing team for three years. I worked for a marketing company in the Chicago suburbs for four years. When the recession hit, I started to work at a marketing agency in my town. I have a few friends who are marketing specialists.

Companies like Google, Apple, and Cisco are all based in Austin, and the tech community is a very tight-knit community. It is a welcoming place to start and run a brand new start up company and I have high confidence in the quality of the people that work there.
I really do have high confidence in the tech community in Austin. I think it helps that Austin is a city where the government is very progressive and there is a lot of optimism and hope that things will turn out for the better. I think I’ve been to Austin once, for the first time, and it felt like the exact same vibe as it does now. It was a very different place, but it was still a nice place to work.
