I like to call myself “the marketing VP.” I’m sure if you typed that in Google it would be a hit. So if I’m not mistaken, marketing is the most exciting, important, and important job in the world, but that’s not why I like to call myself the marketing VP.
The job is one of the most important positions in the business, and as a Vice President, you really do have much more power than just the title. For example, you can veto any decision made by a Vice President if you don’t like it, but you wont be making the call when a CEO makes it. Marketing is always changing, so you have to always be on the lookout for the latest trends and developments.
The marketing VP job is no different, and I feel you have to be more aware of it. Like the marketing VP job, the marketing role is constantly changing, and you have to constantly keep up with it to stay relevant. The marketing VP job is a great example of the way I personally like to see the VP role change. I like to see that the VP is more than just a title, and is a position of power.

The VP job is just one of those job descriptions that you can find in job ads, but it’s a good idea to think about before you apply for it. Because it’s not always what you’re interviewing for.
