VP of marketing for a large non-profit organization, I was in charge of all communication for the organization for the last few years, with a little creative writing thrown in for good measure.
While I was in charge I had to write and edit a lot of internal emails, as well as send out a few articles about the organization, which I think is why I’m better known as a writer.
It was a lot of work, but it was fun. I loved working with my boss, and we had a lot of fun. We were always on the same page, and we got along really well, despite having a lot of communication that had to do with our mission. A lot of my work was for a board that didn’t have very much of a board at all, and I had to write and edit some pretty good stuff.
I feel like I have a lot of responsibility for this company, and that is why I get very nervous when I get called to work on a team that has only three people on it. I am the VP of Marketing, so I do a lot of stuff that has to do with the company, and I am the one who has to give those reports. I am the one that has to write the emails, the ones that are going out, and the ones that are being sent out.
You have to be a very good communicator. You have to be able to explain in a simple way why you did the things that you did, and why you think the results of the things that you did are right. It’s not enough to just list what you did.
I think a lot of people say that they are able to do this because they are able to speak their native language fluently. That’s not the case. I mean, I can converse in English, but I’m pretty awkward at it so no one wants to work with me. That’s why I make sure to hire a translator before I send out any emails.
As a marketer, I have to be able to articulate in a simple way how I think the results of my action are correct. And what I think the results of my actions are correct is not really a matter of opinion. It has to be based on fact-checking. And I have to do this because I actually have to live day-to-day.
Marketing is about taking a big, big, bold step in the direction of your product or service. It would be nice if you could take a smaller, more manageable step, but that’s rarely possible. If you get lazy and start to think that you’re not doing marketing enough, then you’re going to end up doing a lot of things that aren’t going to work the way you planned.
The problem, of course, is that marketing is a lot more than just a single step. It also involves a lot of other things besides simply taking a step. Marketing is not just about creating a website or launching a program. Its about taking a big, bold step in the direction of your product or service.
